Reality; Really?
Reality; Really?
Ok, so this post has very little to do with a home based internet marketers tips. BUT the seeds to a successful mind set may be found here.
Ever said something that was misunderstood- it was seen as something totally different to what you meant?
Have you ever been surprised by how your friend, sibling or colleague described something as totally different to the way you saw it? Was your experience of an event, different to your friend, even though you did it together?
Did you ever get to thinking what reality was?
Reality defined by the Oxford dictionary, “All that is real, the real world as distinct from imagination or fantasy. Something that exists or that is real”.
Well that definition may mean something totally different to each one of us…
It may not be black nor white; it could be grey!
This world is made up of billions of people, each with individual minds. Each living within their own little world, all with unique thoughts, beliefs, memories:
Programmed through circumstances, situations and what was fed into that mind.
What contributes to that persons idea of how they perceive their world in which they live?
As a Person Thinketh- so they are… So what affects our world, that in turn effects our reality. It’s all in the brain, our mind…Each one of us lives in our own fuzzy place. Each one of us tries to make sense of what’s around or happens to us.
Many things can affect this.
- What is said,
- what we see,
- feel,
- smell,
- taste.
What emotional state we’re in; what chemicals, drugs, alcohol, in our bodies, how much sleep we had, even to what we believe.
Our beliefs influence our views of reality.
What do we believe? Well that depends on who you are?
You are made up from an inherited genetic blue print, brought up and influenced by your own unique circumstance. Each child in every family experience things differently, to that of your peers.
Each has different memories, different views around that family cluster. The eldest would be treated different to the middle child or youngest and visa versa. Each child’s view point will be unique to them and their position within that family. Even within one family, one child’s view point will differ from the next.
Each reality changes depending on input, experience, thoughts and beliefs.
We’re not very good mind readers. Our senses try to pick up what’s said through sound and gestures which can be miss interpreted. Certain experiences will be internalized differently depending on our mood, beliefs and state of mind. We all know how our state of mind can change from one moment to the next?
These states of mind can change our perceptions of reality!!!
It’s that state of mind (which could be emotionally charged) that determines how we perceive that moment to be, to become our memory; part of our past. As we build up our store of memories (perceived), this could include what is told to us, pictures we see (tiny fractions of time, which could have been different before and after that shot), advertising (persuasion that affects how we think and feel) are some examples; so we create our own set of beliefs.
Belief and Reality is Fluid…
We can choose to change our thoughts.
It’s our choice…
It’s a decision we need to take. We can decide what we listen to, what company we keep that influences us and how we are going to view that half filled glass of water…
If you view the glass as half full, so your world, your reality becomes one filled with potential, there’s optimism, even abundance. Every thing becomes possible. That attitude becomes conducive to seeing possibilities, to taking action and then to succeed, enabling a better life.
Viewed from Tomorrow- Today would be yesterday!
The moment is now; Find your success today; not in the future nor the past…
Enjoy each of the blessings that you have, life, each breath, family, friends + health.

I like this. This is my first visit, but there’s real food for thought here. I will come back when I’m awake. Keep up the work Rod. I like individual thinking.
Just a question? Have you read any Richard Bach (besides Jonathan Livingston Seagull, which is brilliant), try some of the others, I think they compliment the style of your writing

Rod:
Great post!
I was once told something by my grandmother that has always stuck with me. She told me “there are always three sides to every story, what he said, what she said, and then there’s the truth.” The truth usually resides in between the story of the others. As you say, we each see reality a little different from others.
The good news is we can change our perception. It is up to each individual to make this change. We can not change it for others.
There is so much more hope for those that see the glass as half full. I just do not understand why people want to see everything as half empty.

Thanks Rick for your feed back and insightful comment.
Your Grandmother is a fine example to all of us. You right about our power and ownership to change our perception of how we view things.
Hi Alan.
Thank you for popping over and leaving your feed back.
Great.
I vaguely remember enjoying reading Jonathan Livingstone Seagull at school. A long time back!
I’ll take up your suggestion to delve deeper thanks…
You are welcome. Thanks for your visit.
Who are we?
Just listened to this island song- don’t know the name, but it goes something like this:
“Dad I met this girl and want to marry her”.
“No you can’t son, she’s your sister… but your mother don’t know”.
A week later he meets another girl from the other side of the island.
He goes to his father to announce the wedding day.
“No you can’t marry her son cause that’s your aunty… and your Granny don’t know!”
So the son goes to his mother and tells her the story.
….The mother says; “Your daddy is wrong!!! You’re not his son, he just don’t know!”
